Unveiling the Emirati Falconry Heritage: A Captivating Celebration at 'Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club'
The Al Ain International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition is celebrating four pillars of Emirati heritage that have shaped local culture for centuries: the falcon, Arabian horses, camels, and the Arabian Saluki hound. Running until November 30 at ADNEC in Al Ain, the event brings together traditional hunting practices with modern equipment and services for enthusiasts.
The exhibition operates under the patronage of Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Ain Region. ADNEC Group, part of Modon, organizes the event alongside the UAE Falconers Club, creating a comprehensive experience for visitors interested in falconry, equestrian sports, and outdoor activities.
Falconry Takes Center Stage
Falcons hold deep symbolic meaning in UAE national identity, appearing throughout the country's literature, music, and arts. The exhibition's falconry section showcases the latest products and premium falcon breeds from local farms. Al Dhafra Falcons participates with a collection of luxury falcons available for purchase.
Ibrahim Abdullah Khazim, representing the company, says the event serves as an important platform for displaying and selling falcons while attracting dealers and falconry enthusiasts. "The exhibition creates a vital link between people interested in this field, making marketing easier and raising public awareness about the importance of this traditional sport," he explains.
Ali Salem Al Hassani, owner of Golden Shaheen Falconry, calls the exhibition an ideal platform for falconers to showcase their hunting and equestrian services. He points to technological developments and modern equipment that meet the growing needs of falcon enthusiasts, supporting Abu Dhabi's efforts to establish itself as a leading destination in this field.
Specialized vendors like Gharnas Falcons offer essential equipment including hoods, perches, leather belts, and gloves - all crucial tools for training and handling these majestic birds professionally.
Arabian Horses and Traditional Breeds
The equestrian section gives visitors a chance to discover the latest riding equipment and supplies. Live demonstrations showcase riding skills and jumping techniques, with direct interaction available with trainers and field experts. The Arabian Horse Association highlights the cultural and historical value of purebred Arabian horses, their role in hunting, and their strong connection to Al Ain's heritage.
A dedicated camel section displays the latest innovations in camel-related products and services. This includes research developments from the UAE's Biotechnology Research Center, along with essential equipment and specialized feed to maintain camel health and enhance their racing performance.
The Arabian Saluki section celebrates this ancient breed, which has been linked to traditional hunting in the region. Dalma Kennel presents a collection of purebred Arabian Salukis, emphasizing their commitment to preserving this cultural heritage. Visitors can attend live shows and interactive workshops to learn Saluki training methods, plus watch daily hunting demonstrations that reveal the breed's unique agility and skills.
The exhibition demonstrates how traditional Emirati practices continue to evolve with modern technology while maintaining their cultural significance. For hunting and equestrian enthusiasts, it offers both a glimpse into the UAE's rich heritage and access to contemporary equipment and expertise in these time-honored fields.
