25 Palestinians Injured Amid Ongoing Israeli Operation in Northern West Bank
Israeli forces have injured 25 Palestinians during a two-day military operation in Tubas province in the northern West Bank, with many victims reportedly beaten during detention and interrogation before being released, according to Palestinian Red Crescent officials.
The operation, which began two days ago, has seen Israeli troops impose a curfew across most of Tubas province while conducting house-to-house raids. More than 100 Palestinians have been detained so far, with about half coming from the town of Tamoun alone.
Nadal Odeh, director of Palestinian Red Crescent operations in Tubas, said the injuries were from beatings inflicted during detention. "Among the injured are citizens who were held by the occupation forces, interrogated, and assaulted before being released," he told Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Israeli forces released 27 detainees late at night, though some remained handcuffed even after their release until they reached their homes. Kamal Bani Odeh, director of the Prisoner's Club in Tubas, said troops continue raiding Palestinian homes across the province, taking people to field interrogation centers.
The military operation involves large numbers of Israeli soldiers supported by heavy bulldozers and helicopters that have fired randomly in the area's airspace. Israeli forces have blocked the main entrances to the province with dirt barriers and closed several secondary roads. Surveillance drones are flying intensively over the region.
This escalation in Tubas comes as tensions remain high across the West Bank, where Israeli military operations have increased significantly since the October 7 Hamas attack. The scale of the current operation - lasting multiple days with heavy equipment and aircraft support - reflects the broader pattern of intensified Israeli military activity in Palestinian territories.
The reports of detainee mistreatment and property damage during house raids echo longstanding Palestinian complaints about Israeli military conduct during such operations. Human rights groups have repeatedly documented similar patterns of behavior during West Bank incursions.
