Emirati Entrepreneurs Empowerment Drives National Economic Growth, Says Al Mazrouei
UAE Minister of Community Development Shama bint Suhail Al Mazrouei visited a pavilion showcasing 32 Emirati entrepreneurs at Dubai's Global Village, highlighting the country's shift from social welfare to economic empowerment. The visit demonstrates how the UAE is turning family-based businesses into sustainable ventures that boost both individual prosperity and national economic growth.
The "971.. From the Community" pavilion features products created by Emirati entrepreneurs from local families participating in Global Village's 30th season for 2025-2026. Al Mazrouei praised the quality and innovation of their products, calling them a model for community-based entrepreneurship.
This initiative reflects the Ministry's broader strategy to move beyond traditional social support toward active economic empowerment. Instead of just providing assistance, the government is helping families transform their ideas into competitive businesses that generate real income.
The minister emphasized that every ambitious idea can become the foundation for a pioneering national project. She noted how these entrepreneurs have converted their creativity into home-based businesses that produce high-value, competitive products.
Al Mazrouei expressed satisfaction with seeing inspiring national success stories where citizens turned their innovations into profitable ventures. She highlighted their entrepreneurial spirit and ability to capitalize on opportunities provided by the ministry to expand their businesses beyond local markets.
The visit included a dialogue session titled "Sustainability in Empowering Emirati Family Entrepreneurs," focusing on long-term strategies for supporting these businesses.
For the UAE economy, this approach represents a significant shift in social policy. By enabling families to become economically self-sufficient through entrepreneurship, the government reduces long-term welfare costs while creating new revenue streams. These small businesses also contribute to economic diversification efforts, moving the country away from oil dependence toward a knowledge-based economy driven by local innovation.
