UAE's Foreign Minister Welcomes Serbian Counterpart for High-Level Talks
The UAE and Serbia have strengthened their diplomatic ties with a new political consultation agreement, signed during a high-level meeting between foreign ministers in what marks another step in expanding Middle East-Europe partnerships. The deal comes as both countries seek to diversify their international relationships and build stronger economic bridges across regions.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, met with his Serbian counterpart Marko Djuric to discuss expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. The talks focused on building their existing comprehensive strategic partnership and economic cooperation framework.
During the meeting, both ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two countries. This type of agreement typically creates formal channels for regular diplomatic dialogue and coordination on international issues.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that UAE-Serbia relations rest on solid foundations of mutual respect, trust, and shared interests. He described the partnership as an effective model for international cooperation, highlighting how the relationship has evolved beyond traditional diplomatic ties.
The ministers also discussed current regional and international developments, exchanging views on various global issues. This reflects both countries' interest in coordinating positions on international matters and maintaining regular diplomatic dialogue.
For investors and businesses, this deepening relationship signals potential new opportunities in trade and investment between the UAE and Serbia. The UAE has been actively expanding its presence in the Balkans, while Serbia seeks stronger ties with Gulf states to diversify its economic partnerships beyond traditional European and Russian relationships.
