UAE Crown Prince Attends Azerbaijan's Victory Day Celebrations on Behalf of President
Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed attended Azerbaijan's Victory Day celebrations in Baku, representing UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. The high-level diplomatic visit highlights growing ties between the two nations, particularly in technology, renewable energy, and trade sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan delivered congratulations from the UAE's top leadership to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and praised Azerbaijan's development progress. The Crown Prince, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, emphasized how bilateral relations continue expanding across multiple areas.
"Our bilateral relations are witnessing steady growth in various fields, especially in commercial and cultural cooperation, and in advanced technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and green economy," Sheikh Hamdan said during the visit. He noted these partnerships create opportunities for knowledge exchange and sustainable development in both countries.
The UAE delegation included several key ministers, signaling the importance of this diplomatic engagement. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, joined the trip alongside Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for AI and Digital Economy, and other senior officials.
This visit comes as both nations seek to deepen economic partnerships beyond traditional sectors. The UAE has been positioning itself as a regional hub for technology and renewable energy, while Azerbaijan looks to diversify its economy beyond oil and gas.
Victory Day marks Azerbaijan's military success in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which reclaimed territories that had been under Armenian control for nearly three decades. The celebration drew leaders from several countries, reflecting Azerbaijan's growing diplomatic influence in the region.
For investors and businesses, the strengthening UAE-Azerbaijan relationship opens doors in emerging sectors. Both countries are investing heavily in AI, green technology, and digital infrastructure. Azerbaijan's strategic location between Europe and Asia, combined with the UAE's position as a Middle East business hub, creates potential for new trade corridors and investment flows.
The presence of the UAE's AI minister in the delegation suggests both nations are serious about technology cooperation. This aligns with broader regional trends where Gulf states are partnering with energy-rich nations to build more diversified economies.
