Haitham Al-Janebi, ADIPEC 2025 Technical Conference Chair, Highlights Global Participation with 1,137 Entities from 93 Countries
ADIPEC 2025, Abu Dhabi's flagship energy conference, wrapped up last week with record-breaking numbers that show the event's growing influence in shaping global energy policy. The conference attracted 239,709 attendees and facilitated deals worth $46 billion across various sectors, marking a 17% increase from 2024.
Haitham Al-Ghanaimi, head of ADIPEC's technical conference and ADNOC's executive vice president for field development, told local media that this year's event received an unprecedented 6,283 technical papers from 1,137 organizations across 93 countries. These aren't just impressive statistics - they reflect growing global recognition of ADIPEC as a key platform for sharing knowledge and innovative solutions in energy and technology.
The numbers tell a compelling growth story. Back in 2013, ADIPEC hosted just 53 technical sessions and received 1,122 research papers from 34 countries. Fast forward to 2025, and the event now features 166 sessions - triple the previous number. The conference saw a five-fold increase in submitted papers, while participating countries nearly tripled and participating organizations grew nine-fold compared to just two years ago.
This growth matters because it shows how the energy sector is rapidly embracing new technologies. The conference highlighted cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence, automated operations, and digital oil fields. But these aren't just theoretical discussions - ADNOC is already implementing many of these innovations in its exploration, development, and production operations.
The practical applications are significant. From AI-powered predictive maintenance to fully automated drilling systems, the technologies showcased at ADIPEC are actively reshaping how energy companies operate. This real-world implementation gives the conference credibility that attracts more participants and investment.
For Abu Dhabi's economy, ADIPEC delivered substantial returns, generating an estimated $400 million in revenue, particularly benefiting hospitality, tourism, and transportation sectors. This economic impact helps explain why the emirate continues investing in positioning itself as a global energy hub.
Al-Ghanaimi emphasized that ADNOC's technical teams play a crucial role in driving the company's innovation agenda, contributing through scientific research, field experiments, and intellectual leadership. The conference provides a global platform for these engineers and technical experts to showcase their work and exchange experiences with international peers.
The event's structure reflects the industry's complexity, featuring two main tracks - strategic and technical conferences - with 12 programs, over 380 sessions, and more than 1,800 speakers. This comprehensive approach allows participants to engage with both high-level strategic discussions and detailed technical solutions.
Looking ahead, the focus extends beyond just technological advancement to practical implementation. The conference aims to accelerate progress by bringing together experts from different specializations and sectors, fostering collaboration to develop innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce emissions, and integrate digital technologies.
The partnerships and innovative solutions showcased at ADIPEC matter because they translate into real-world applications that could reshape the energy sector. As the industry faces pressure to become more sustainable while meeting growing global energy demand, platforms like ADIPEC become crucial for sharing solutions and building the collaborations needed to address these complex challenges.
