The Unity Shines Bright Against Qatar's Duhail with Tadić's Brilliant Touches and Zahir's World-Class Goal
Al Wahda secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Qatar's Al Duhail in the AFC Champions League Elite, with Serbian star Dusan Tadic orchestrating the win that moves the UAE club to seven points in the West Asian group stage. The result leaves Al Duhail struggling at the bottom with just one point after three matches.
The match at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi drew 7,632 fans who watched Al Wahda continue their strong continental campaign. But the opening didn't go according to plan for the home side. Despite controlling midfield in the first half and creating three clear chances in the opening 15 minutes, they found themselves behind.
The best early opportunity fell to Tadic himself when Alaa Zahir set him up one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot went wide of the post in the 12th minute. Al Duhail punished that miss eight minutes later. Adel Boulbina delivered a cross that Krzysztof Piatek finished with a precise shot to give the Qatari side a surprise lead.
Tadic's influence grew as the first half progressed. The Serbian playmaker threaded a pass to Omar Khribin, who earned a penalty that he converted himself in the 35th minute to level the score. Then, in the second minute of stoppage time, Tadic turned provider again. His pass found Ibrahima Diarra, who finished brilliantly to give Al Wahda a 2-1 halftime lead.
The second half belonged to Al Wahda, even though Al Duhail controlled more of the midfield play. Tadic put his stamp on the third goal in the 67th minute with a powerful shot that deflected off Al Duhail defenders. Alaa Zahir was perfectly positioned to finish the rebound with a spectacular overhead kick.
Al Wahda's defense, led by goalkeeper Mohammed Al Shamsi, held firm despite Al Duhail's increased pressure in the final stages. The victory sets up an important fourth-round clash with Uzbekistan's Nasaf as Al Wahda looks to maintain their strong position in the group.
For Al Duhail, the loss continues a disappointing campaign that has seen them collect just one point from their opening three matches. They'll need a dramatic turnaround to keep their knockout stage hopes alive.
