Sharjah Police Waives Traffic Fines Incurred Before December 1st
Sharjah Police announced a special amnesty program that waives traffic violation points for all offenses committed before December 1, 2025, if drivers pay their fines by January 10, 2026. The initiative marks the UAE's 54th National Day celebrations and gives drivers a chance to clear their records.
The amnesty comes on top of existing discount programs that Sharjah Police already offers. Drivers who pay within 60 days of getting a ticket receive a 35% discount on fines, impound periods, and vehicle storage fees. Those who pay between 60 days and one year get a 25% discount, but only on the financial penalty.
Here's where it gets interesting for drivers with accumulated points. The UAE uses a points system where serious violations can lead to license suspension or even cancellation. This amnesty completely removes those points for older violations, giving drivers a clean slate.
But there's a catch. The program doesn't apply to serious traffic violations or their associated points under normal circumstances. The amnesty specifically targets the point removal aspect, which is separate from the financial penalties.
For Sharjah's driving community, this represents significant savings and legal relief. Many expatriate workers and residents struggle with accumulated points that threaten their ability to drive legally. The timing aligns with the UAE's tradition of marking national celebrations with government initiatives that benefit residents.
The police emphasized that drivers can pay through Sharjah Police's website or the Ministry of Interior's "MOI" mobile app. This digital-first approach reflects the UAE's broader push toward streamlined government services.
The program serves a dual purpose beyond just clearing violations. Sharjeh Police stated it aims to encourage better driving behavior and improve overall road safety compliance. By giving drivers a fresh start, authorities hope to see reduced repeat violations and more cautious driving habits across the emirate.
