Sharjah Fans, The Tiger Pledges Restoring Team to Top Form Across All Competitions
Sharjah FC's new coach Abdul Majid Al Nimr has promised fans he'll work to restore the team to its rightful place across all competitions. The club has been struggling with poor results lately, and Al Nimr says he'll focus heavily on both the psychological and technical aspects of the game in the coming period.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Friday's match against Bani Yas in the eighth round of the ADNOC Pro League, Al Nimr said his team is well-prepared for what he called an important fixture. The match comes after a long break in league action, and he acknowledged that Sharjah still sits far from the top teams in the standings.
But Al Nimr sees potential. "Sharjah has excellent players in all positions, and we also have high-quality substitutes," he explained. "We'll work in the coming period to implement a playing style that suits the players' capabilities."
The coach recently took over from Serbian manager Milos, whose contract was terminated by mutual consent. Al Nimr inherits a packed fixture schedule and says he'll carefully manage player workload to avoid fatigue and injuries.
He's keeping his immediate focus narrow. While Sharjah still has chances in the AFC Champions League Elite competition, Al Nimr wants to concentrate on the Bani Yas match first. The team also faces a return leg against Al Ain in the quarter-finals of the UAE Pro League Cup, where they're pushing for advancement to the next round.
"I thank the president and members of Sharjah Club for this trust, and I hope to live up to expectations," Al Nimr said. His appointment comes at a critical time as the club looks to turn around what has been a disappointing campaign so far across multiple competitions.
The compressed schedule ahead will test both Al Nimr's tactical approach and his squad rotation skills. With Sharjah competing on multiple fronts, including continental competition, how he manages his players could determine whether the club can salvage something meaningful from this season.
