Sayed Boreya Guides Al-Thaeed to Victory Over Al-Arabi in Premier League Clash
Al-Dhaid pulled off a narrow 1-0 victory over Al-Arabi in Sunday's fourth round of UAE First Division action, while two other matches ended in dramatic late draws that shuffled the league standings.
The day's biggest winner was Al-Dhaid, who climbed from the bottom half of the table thanks to Iranian striker Seyed Boria Miraei's 71st-minute goal. The away victory moved Al-Dhaid to 4 points and 10th place, while Al-Arabi stayed put at 6 points in sixth position.
But the real drama came in the other two fixtures, both featuring late equalizers that left teams sharing the spoils.
At Masfoot's home ground, the hosts looked set for three points after Ivorian Seydou Fan scored in the 72nd minute. But Nigerian striker Victor Nwaneri had other plans, finding the net in the 87th minute to secure a 1-1 draw for City. The result puts Masfoot on 5 points in seventh place, just one point ahead of City in ninth.
The third match delivered even more late-game excitement. Al-Hamriyah took the lead through Congolese forward Dorma Dieu Set in the 56th minute against Al-Orouba. It looked like a comfortable win until Brazilian Francisco Divo struck in the 89th minute to earn Al-Orouba a crucial point.
That draw helps Al-Hamriyah maintain their strong start to the season with 7 points, good enough for third place. Al-Orouba, meanwhile, picked up just their first point of the campaign but remain in 12th position.
The results show how tight the First Division race has become. Just 6 points separate third-placed Al-Hamriyah from Al-Dhaid in 10th, and late goals are proving decisive in determining where teams finish each matchday.
