Red Bull Racing Dominates F1 World Championship Standings
Team Victory has taken the lead in the Formula 1 powerboat world championship standings after delivering the UAE's best performance yet at the Shanghai round. Driver Shaun Torrente secured second place in the main race, pushing the Emirati team to 71 points and the top of the team standings.
Team Victory now sits just two points ahead of Sharjah team, which holds 69 points in second place. Sweden rounds out the top three with 64 points, while Abu Dhabi trails in fourth with 31 points.
Torrente piloted Victory 4 to second place in Shanghai's main race, finishing just 0.889 seconds behind winner Jonas Andersson from Sweden. Andersson crossed the finish line first with a time of 42:59 minutes. Sweden claimed another podium spot when Grant Trask took third place, 1.87 seconds behind the winner.
The strong Shanghai showing helped Torrente build momentum after his earlier sprint race victory. He now has 35 points in the individual driver standings, though he still trails championship leader Andersson, who sits at 40 points.
Victory's second boat also performed well in Shanghai. Alec Weckstrom brought Victory 3 home in sixth place, finishing 4.19 seconds off the winning pace. That result moved Weckstrom to 36 points and third place in the individual standings.
The results mark a significant step forward for UAE powerboat racing on the world stage. With Victory leading the team championship and two drivers in the top three individual standings, the Emirates has established itself as a major force in Formula 1 powerboat racing.
The championship battle remains tight heading into the next round. Just seven points separate the top three teams, setting up what could be a season-long fight for the title between Victory, Sharjah, and Sweden.
