Powerhouse Wuhda Stuns Jazira with Dominant 3-Goal Victory in Professional Cup
Al Wahda secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Al Jazira in the first leg of their semi-final clash at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Friday. The win puts Al Wahda in a strong position heading into the second leg, with goals from Reza Ghandipour and Dusan Tadic highlighting their dominant performance.
Al Wahda started fast and never looked back. Just 12 minutes in, Ghandipour broke through Al Jazira's offside trap and found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He finished confidently to give his team an early lead.
Al Jazira had a golden chance to respond when they won a penalty kick, but Nabil Faqir's spot kick was brilliantly saved by Al Wahda goalkeeper Zayed Al Hammadi in the 21st minute. That miss proved costly as Al Wahda doubled their advantage before halftime.
Ghandipour grabbed his second goal in the 41st minute after a precise pass from Tadic put him through on goal. The striker unleashed a powerful shot that found the top left corner, giving Al Wahda a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
The second half brought more of the same from Al Wahda. They kept pressing forward and got their reward when Al Jazira substitute Momodou Jatta fouled Tadic inside the penalty area. Tadic stepped up to take the penalty himself and made no mistake, completing the 3-0 scoreline in the 55th minute.
The result gives Al Wahda a significant advantage going into the second leg. Al Jazira will need to produce something special at home to overturn this deficit and reach the final. For Al Wahda, they can now focus on managing the return fixture and securing their place in the championship match.
