Liveua University Forges Strategic Partnership with Canada's Regina University
Liwa University in Abu Dhabi just signed a strategic partnership with Canada's University of Regina, setting up new opportunities for students and faculty to gain international experience through exchange programs and joint research projects. The deal creates direct pathways for academic collaboration between the UAE and Canada, including shared research initiatives and cultural exchange programs.
The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi with Professor Mohammed Mahjoub Diaf, President of Liwa University, and Haroon Chaudhry, Executive Vice President of International Relations at University of Regina, both present for the ceremony.
Here's what the partnership includes: joint educational and research activities, sharing of academic materials and scientific publications, and student-faculty exchange programs for study, training, conferences, and academic discussions. Both universities plan to roll out practical initiatives that will give students from both countries hands-on international experience.
"This partnership opens up quality opportunities for our students and academic staff to gain international experience and participate in impactful research," said Professor Diaf. "It enhances the quality of education and expands areas of innovation, serving our academic community and keeping pace with our future aspirations."
Dr. Anas Al-Qudah, Dean of the College of Business Administration at Liwa University, explained that both universities intend to implement practical initiatives including student exchange programs and joint research projects. These programs aim to enrich the academic experience and strengthen cultural understanding between the UAE and Canada, building sustainable bridges of scientific and knowledge cooperation.
University of Regina brings significant academic weight to this partnership. Founded as an independent university in 1974, it now serves over 17,000 students from more than 100 countries. The Canadian institution operates ten colleges and focuses on practical education and cooperative training, which helps prepare graduates for the job market. Its campus sits in Wascana Park, one of North America's largest urban parks.
For students at both universities, this means access to different educational approaches and research opportunities. Canadian students can experience Middle Eastern academic perspectives, while UAE students gain exposure to North American educational methods and research facilities.
The partnership reflects Liwa University's push to establish itself as a prominent educational institution in the region. By connecting with established international universities, it's working to give its students competitive advantages in the global job market and academic research fields.
