Dubai Police's Digital Projects and Initiatives Unveiled by Hamdan bin Mohammed
Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has directed the city's police force to become the world's best at using artificial intelligence and advanced technology for public safety. The ambitious directive came during a briefing on Dubai Police's digital transformation projects, signaling the emirate's push to cement its position as a global tech hub.
Sheikh Hamdan, who also serves as Dubai's Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, outlined his vision in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He instructed Dubai Police to focus on delivering high-quality services that meet international standards while expanding specialized training programs in future technologies.
"We want to build the best security system of its kind through the dedicated efforts of our national talent," he said, emphasizing the role of local expertise in this transformation.
The move fits Dubai's broader strategy to position itself at the forefront of smart city initiatives. The emirate has been investing heavily in AI across various sectors, from transportation to government services. For Dubai Police, this means integrating predictive policing algorithms, automated response systems, and smart surveillance networks.
From an economic perspective, this tech-forward approach serves multiple purposes. It attracts international businesses looking for secure, digitally advanced environments. It also creates opportunities for local tech companies and startups working in the security and AI space.
Sheikh Hamdan made clear that the ultimate goal goes beyond technology for its own sake. "Providing the highest levels of security, safety, and quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors are our priorities that ensure Dubai's future leadership," he stated.
The timing is significant. As cities worldwide grapple with evolving security challenges, Dubai is betting that AI-powered policing will give it a competitive edge in attracting residents, tourists, and investors who prioritize safety and innovation.
