Dubai Crown Prince, Armenian Defense Minister Discuss Strengthening Cooperation for Regional and Global Peace
Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed met with Armenia's Defense Minister Soren Papikyan on Monday during the Dubai Airshow 2025, where over 1,500 exhibitors from around the world are showcasing the future of aviation, aerospace, and defense. The meeting highlighted growing UAE-Armenia defense ties and regional security cooperation at one of the industry's most important gatherings.
Sheikh Hamdan welcomed the Armenian minister and emphasized the UAE's commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation with Armenia. He said both countries are looking to expand their partnership across defense, development, technology, and future industries. The Crown Prince stressed that the UAE's approach focuses on building partnerships that support stability, development, and understanding between nations.
The UAE leader made clear his country's philosophy on defense cooperation. "The UAE believes that working together on defense capabilities aims to create guarantees that protect global peace," he said. He explained that secure, stable environments are essential for economic growth, encouraging investment, and allowing development projects to flourish.
Armenia's defense minister expressed his country's appreciation for the UAE's leadership and people. He confirmed Armenia's interest in finding more opportunities for cooperation, especially given the growing economic, cultural, and technological ties between the two nations.
Papikyan also praised the organization of Dubai Airshow, calling it an ideal platform where defense leaders and aerospace technology makers from around the world can meet. He said the event reflects the UAE's leading role and its ongoing efforts to support cooperation that serves regional and global security and stability.
The talks covered several practical areas of defense cooperation. Both sides discussed sharing expertise and working together on traditional and future defense equipment, modern defense systems, and training programs. They focused on preparing personnel with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to use advanced technologies effectively in defense operations.
The meeting also touched on broader regional and international developments. Both officials discussed Middle East developments and efforts to establish peace and stability in the region, both in the near and long term. They covered several other topics of mutual interest.
The meeting included several high-ranking UAE officials: Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defense Affairs; Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; and Major General Khalifa Rashid Al Hameli, Director of the Defense Minister's Office.
