Al Ahli Youth continued their dominant streak against Sharjah with a convincing 2-0 victory at Rashid Stadium in Dubai on Thursday, extending their historical superiority in what has become a one-sided rivalry this year. The win came in front of 4,348 spectators and marked another chapter in Al Ahli's commanding performance against their opponents across multiple competitions in 2025.
This latest meeting was the seventh encounter between these two teams this year alone. Al Ahli Youth has completely dominated this series, winning three matches and drawing four, while Sharjah failed to secure a single victory. The matches spanned various competitions including the AFC Champions League, where despite two 1-1 draws, Sharjah only advanced on penalties. Other meetings included league fixtures, the UAE Pro Cup, and the President's Cup final, which Al Ahli won 2-1.
The historical record tells an even starker story. Over 52 professional-era meetings, Al Ahli Youth has won 26 matches compared to Sharjah's mere seven victories, with 19 draws completing the tally. This lopsided record highlights the significant gap between these two clubs over the years.
Thursday's match unfolded predictably for Al Ahli. They broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a powerful ground shot from inside the penalty area. Brazilian midfielder Guilherme Bala sealed the victory in the 61st minute, firing home from the edge of the box to put the result beyond doubt.
The victory lifted Al Ahli Youth to 14 points as they climb toward the top of the league standings. Sharjah remains stuck on seven points, deepening the crisis surrounding Serbian coach Miloš Milojević. The defeat marked his fourth loss since taking charge of "The King," raising serious questions about his future with the club.
For Sharjah, this continues a troubling pattern under their current management. The team's inability to compete with traditional rivals like Al Ahli Youth suggests deeper structural issues that go beyond individual matches. Meanwhile, Al Ahli's consistent performance across multiple competitions this season positions them as serious contenders for domestic honors.
