Zayed Charity Race Held in Abu Dhabi under Hamdan bin Zayed's Patronage
Abu Dhabi's 24th Zayed Charity Run will take place on November 29, 2025, bringing together thousands of participants to honor the UAE's founding father while raising funds for three cutting-edge medical research programs. The event, known globally as "the world's most helpful race," continues its mission of combining sport with humanitarian impact.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, this year's race will start at Wahat Al Karama and finish at Erth Abu Dhabi Hotel. The event welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels to compete in 3km, 5km, and 10km races.
The 2025 race proceeds will support three research programs at the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center. These include developing specialized cancer treatments using tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), creating an artificial intelligence platform for precision medicine targeting multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes, and a perinatal care project that transforms donated placental tissues into innovative skin treatments and wound healing therapies.
Major General (Retired) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee, emphasized that the race goes beyond sports. "This is a deep tribute to the eternal values established by our founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which embody his humanitarian legacy of generosity, mercy, and humanity," he said.
The timing holds special significance as it falls during the UAE's Year of Community 2025. Al Kaabi noted how the race brings people together from all nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds in Abu Dhabi for "a grand celebration of health, solidarity, and giving."
Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, highlighted the race's role in establishing sport as an essential part of community life. He stressed how the organizing committee dedicates race proceeds to support medical and charitable institutions, helping treat patients and assist those in need.
Professor Yendry Ventura, CEO of Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center, expressed pride in receiving support from the charity race. "Our mission is to lead research in transformational medicine and pioneering clinical trials globally, while providing innovative patient care designed specifically to meet the needs of the UAE and the region," he said.
Since its launch in 2001 under the vision of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Zayed Charity Run has evolved into a global humanitarian movement. The race has spread Zayed's values across communities worldwide, from Abu Dhabi to New York, Cairo, Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, and Budapest, becoming a global platform for unity, giving, and hope.
The race venue will transform into a comprehensive family celebration featuring food and beverage platforms, entertainment shows, and various activities for children and the general public, reinforcing the event's inclusive community spirit.
