Verizon UAE Inks Partnership with New Mobility to Drive Digital Transformation
Farizon UAE, part of Jameel Motors, signed a strategic partnership with New Mobility to accelerate the UAE's shift toward sustainable commercial transport. The deal involves supplying 100 fully electric panel vans, with most already delivered and operational as part of a phased rollout plan.
The partnership goes beyond just selling vehicles. Both companies are building a complete ecosystem that includes fleet management programs, financing solutions, and charging infrastructure development. New Mobility brings credibility here as an approved provider by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
But here's where it gets interesting - they're planning for the entire vehicle lifecycle. The partnership includes battery refurbishment programs, vehicle resale services, and recycling initiatives. This addresses one of the biggest concerns about electric vehicle adoption: what happens when the batteries degrade.
The technical side focuses on advanced systems like remote telematics, delivery route optimization, predictive maintenance, and data analytics. They're also setting up training programs for workers who'll maintain these electric vehicles and operate charging stations.
This partnership fits into the UAE's broader green vehicle roadmap and national sustainability goals. The country has been pushing hard to diversify its economy away from oil dependence, and electric commercial vehicles represent a significant piece of that puzzle.
For the logistics industry, this could mean lower operating costs over time. Electric vehicles typically have fewer moving parts than traditional engines, which translates to reduced maintenance expenses. The challenge remains charging infrastructure, but partnerships like this one with DEWA-approved providers help address that gap.
"This partnership brings us closer to operating one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly logistics fleets in the region," said Abhishek Shah, co-founder and CEO of New Mobility. Eddie Shaer from Jameel Motors emphasized their commitment to leading the transition toward electric commercial transport, calling it a shared vision for cleaner and smarter fleet solutions.
The Gulf Cooperation Council region represents a growing market for electric commercial vehicles, driven by government incentives and corporate sustainability commitments. Success in the UAE could provide a template for similar partnerships across neighboring countries.
