UAE Weather Authority Reveals Lowest Recorded Temperature in the Country
The UAE recorded its coldest temperature this winter morning, with thermometers dropping to just 9.6°C (49.3°F) in the Rakna area of Al Ain at 6:30 AM local time. The National Center of Meteorology confirmed this marks the lowest temperature measured across the entire country today.
Al Ain, located in the eastern region of Abu Dhabi emirate near the Oman border, regularly experiences the UAE's coolest temperatures during winter months. The city sits at a higher elevation than coastal areas and benefits from its inland desert location, which allows for greater temperature swings between day and night.
These cooler temperatures are typical for the UAE's winter season, which runs from December through February. The country's desert climate means nighttime temperatures can drop significantly, especially in inland areas away from the warming influence of the Arabian Gulf.
The reading comes as the UAE enters its peak winter tourism season, when pleasant daytime temperatures and cool evenings draw visitors from around the world. While 9.6°C might seem mild by global standards, it represents genuinely cold weather for a country where summer temperatures regularly exceed 45°C.
