UAE Experiences Coolest Temperature Recorded at 9.8°C
The UAE recorded its lowest temperature of the day at 9.8 degrees Celsius (49.6°F) early Sunday morning in Rakna, Al Ain, according to the National Center of Meteorology. The temperature was recorded at 6:30 AM local time.
This reading highlights the significant temperature variations the UAE experiences during winter months. While coastal cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi typically maintain milder temperatures due to their proximity to the Arabian Gulf, inland areas such as Al Ain can see much cooler conditions, especially during early morning hours.
The Al Ain region, located near the Omani border and surrounded by the Hajar Mountains, regularly experiences the country's lowest temperatures. Its desert location and higher elevation compared to coastal areas create conditions that allow for greater temperature drops overnight.
For residents and visitors, these cooler temperatures offer relief from the intense heat that dominates much of the year. The winter season, running roughly from December through February, brings some of the most comfortable weather conditions to the region, making it peak tourist season for the Emirates.
