UAE Empowers Global Peace Initiatives: Sheik Saif Leads Sustained Support for International Organizations
The UAE hosted the second UN Women Police Leaders session with representatives from 40 countries, focusing on building leadership skills for female officers working in conflict zones. The initiative reflects the Emirates' broader commitment to supporting international peacekeeping efforts and helping communities recover from instability.
Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, announced the program through his official X account. He said the session was held under the direction of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to strengthen the UAE's role in backing international organizations and peace-building efforts.
The program aims to develop professional and leadership capabilities for women police officers who play key roles in conflict areas worldwide. Female police officers often handle sensitive situations in post-conflict environments, including working with victims of violence and helping rebuild community trust in law enforcement.
This marks the UAE's growing involvement in international security cooperation. The country has been expanding its participation in UN peacekeeping missions and hosting training programs for security professionals from developing nations. The focus on women police leaders aligns with UN efforts to increase female participation in peacekeeping operations, where women officers have proven effective in engaging with local communities and addressing gender-based violence.
The 40-country participation shows the program's reach across different regions facing security challenges. Many of these nations deal with ongoing conflicts or are in post-conflict recovery phases where skilled police leadership becomes crucial for maintaining stability and rebuilding institutions.
