UAE Claims Gold and Bronze Medals at Arab Billiards and Snooker Championship
The UAE billiards and snooker team just added two more medals to their collection at the Arab Championship in Egypt's New Alamein City. They now have five colored medals total from the ongoing tournament.
Mohammed Sharif grabbed gold in the individual nine-ball billiards competition. He beat Bahrain's Haider Marwam in the final to secure the top spot. Meanwhile, Mohammed Al Joker took bronze in the individual six-ball snooker event after losing his semifinal match to Iraq's Firas Kamel.
These wins build on the team's earlier success at the championship. Before this, they had already secured three medals - silver in the team snooker competition and two bronze medals in the billiards doubles and youth individual categories.
The Arab Championship brings together top players from across the region, and the UAE's strong showing demonstrates the country's growing presence in cue sports. Billiards and snooker have been gaining popularity in the Gulf states, with national teams investing more in training and development programs.
For the UAE, these results reflect years of preparation and the development of local talent. The mix of gold, silver, and bronze medals across different age groups and formats shows depth in their program rather than reliance on just one or two star players.
