UAE and Google Offer Free 'Geminai' Premium for University Students
The UAE government partnered with Google to give university students free access to Gemini's premium AI tools for a full year. This move supports the country's push to build advanced AI talent and get students using cutting-edge technology that aligns with national AI strategy goals.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, said the UAE prioritizes investing in people and giving them AI tools to achieve global leadership. The government wants to use AI to develop skills, build capabilities, boost efficiency, and speed up innovation across different sectors.
The partnership comes at the right time. Google's data shows searches for AI and education topics in the UAE jumped 110% over the past two months compared to last year. This surge reflects growing interest from students and teachers who want to try modern technologies.
Students get access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google's most advanced model. They can use it to create content, text, images, and videos with audio. The tool also offers advanced research methods and helps with specialized reports using deep information. Students also get 2 terabytes of storage space.
The free package includes NotebookLM, which helps organize student work and provides audio and visual summaries that are five times more detailed. It also simplifies daily tasks and improves writing.
All UAE university students over 18 can register before December 9 by entering their university details and personal email. The free subscription lasts one full year from the registration date.
Anthony Nakache, Google's CEO for the Middle East and North Africa, said AI and education topics are getting wide attention across the UAE community. The partnership helps all university students in the country benefit from the latest models and features on Gemini and supports creativity in their educational journey.
This initiative fits into the UAE's broader vision to empower society with technology and AI through global strategic partnerships. The government wants to create an environment that encourages learning and leadership while supporting efforts to multiply targets and speed up achievements.
