Serbia Honors Ahmed Nasir Al Raisi with "Yaakov Ninadovich Star" for Global Security Contributions
Serbia awarded its highest security honor to Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, the head of Interpol, recognizing his leadership of the world's largest international police organization. The award highlights growing international cooperation in fighting cross-border crime and strengthens ties between Interpol and its 196 member countries.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić presented the Jakov Nenadović Star to Al-Raisi during a ceremony on the sidelines of Interpol's 93rd General Assembly in Marrakech, Morocco. The event runs from November 24-27 and brings together law enforcement leaders from around the world.
The Jakov Nenadović Star represents Serbia's most prestigious security decoration. The country reserves this honor for global leaders who make exceptional contributions to international security, promote cooperation with Serbian law enforcement, and help combat organized crime.
Serbia's Interior Ministry said the award reflects deep appreciation for Al-Raisi's leadership of Interpol, which has operated for more than 100 years as a platform for international police cooperation. The organization connects law enforcement agencies across nearly every country on Earth, sharing intelligence and coordinating efforts against transnational crime.
During the ceremony, Dačić praised Al-Raisi's commitment to strengthening the relationship between Interpol and Serbia. He specifically highlighted the Interpol chief's support for initiatives that boost global law enforcement cooperation in the face of evolving security challenges.
Al-Raisi expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, but emphasized that the honor extends beyond personal achievement. He described the award as international recognition of Interpol's role as a global security cooperation platform and its joint efforts to fight crime worldwide.
The Interpol president said the recognition serves as additional motivation for the organization to deepen partnerships and strengthen cooperation bridges with member countries globally. This comes at a time when international crime networks increasingly operate across borders, requiring coordinated responses from law enforcement agencies.
The award ceremony in Morocco underscores the importance of international police cooperation as criminal organizations become more sophisticated and global in scope. Interpol facilitates information sharing, coordinates international investigations, and helps countries track suspects and stolen goods across borders.
