Liverpool Legend Predicts When Mohamed Salah Will Leave the Club
Former Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp believes Mohamed Salah could leave the club as early as January, saying the relationship between the Egyptian striker and Liverpool has reached a "breaking point." This comes after Salah was benched for the second consecutive match in Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
Redknapp told the Mirror he would be "amazed" if the 33-year-old completes his contract, which runs until 2027. "I'll be stunned if he finishes the remaining two years or even a year and a half," he said. "The situation won't help. Nothing in football surprises me anymore, whether he leaves in January or summer."
Dutch manager Arne Slot has dropped Salah from Liverpool's starting lineup in the last two games, which appears to be testing how the team performs without their star player. Since the season began, Salah has faced heavy criticism over his declining performance and goal drought.
The timing makes this situation particularly striking. Salah signed his current contract extension just last April after one of his best seasons at Liverpool. He scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists in 38 games, helping the team win the Premier League title.
But Salah isn't the only player struggling. Many Liverpool players seem unable to find their rhythm under Slot's management, which has increased pressure on the Dutch coach as poor results pile up.
For Liverpool, losing Salah mid-season would create a massive gap in their attack and signal a major shift in the club's direction. The Egyptian has been central to Liverpool's success since joining the club, and his departure would force them to rebuild their offensive strategy.
The January transfer window could become crucial for both parties. If the relationship continues to deteriorate, a winter exit might benefit everyone involved rather than letting tensions drag on through the rest of the season.
