King Charles and Prince Andrew at Odds Over Housing Arrangements
King Charles III faces a fresh crisis with his brother Prince Andrew over living arrangements, as tensions escalate following Andrew's complete stripping of royal titles. The dispute centers on Andrew's demands for a luxurious new home and full staff after being forced to give up his current residence due to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew was supposed to move to one of the King's private properties in Sandringham, Norfolk, early next year. But that plan now looks uncertain as the brothers clash over what Andrew considers "fair" treatment.
The Prince is demanding a six or seven-bedroom house within the Sandringham estate, complete with a full team of staff including a chef, gardener, housekeeper, and driver. He also wants proper security arrangements provided.
Sources close to the situation say Andrew believes he deserves better treatment because he followed the King's orders precisely. "He gave up the lease on one of England's finest homes, so he expects to be treated fairly," one insider explained.
But former royal staff members suggest Andrew's focus always comes back to money. They point out that his previous lease was bought out, and all details of any new arrangement will need to be negotiated.
**The fall from grace**
The housing dispute comes after Charles stripped his brother of two of Britain's most prestigious honors - the Order of the Garter and the Royal Victorian Order. The King also cancelled all of Andrew's official titles and removed his name from historical records related to these awards.
Andrew had received the Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter in 2006 and the Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in 2011, both awarded by their late mother Queen Elizabeth II.
Charles went further by removing Andrew's right to use "Prince" and "His Royal Highness" titles. The Duke of York title was also struck from the nobility list. The King said his brother had made "serious errors in judgment" regarding his relationship with Epstein.
Despite losing his titles and facing ongoing scrutiny, Andrew continues to deny all allegations against him. He maintains his innocence even after being stripped of his royal status and forced into this awkward living situation with his brother.
The standoff highlights how the monarchy is still dealing with fallout from the Epstein scandal. Charles clearly wants to distance the royal family from any association with the case, but Andrew's demands show he's not going quietly into retirement.
