Kalbaa Capitalizes on Numerical Advantage, Defeats 9-Player Khorfokan Squad
Kalba pulled off a stunning comeback against Khor Fakkan, turning a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 victory after their hosts were reduced to nine men in the UAE Pro League. The dramatic turnaround came after Khor Fakkan received two red cards, completely shifting the momentum in Wednesday's fifth-round match.
The trouble started early for Khor Fakkan when Ahmed Jashak was sent off in the 19th minute. But the home team managed to build a commanding lead despite playing with ten men. Brazilian striker Lorenci do Nascimento opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finishing off a cross from Portuguese teammate Felipe.
Things looked even better for Khor Fakkan when they won a penalty after VAR review. The ball had struck Slovenian player Miha Blazic's hand, and Moroccan midfielder Tariq Tisoudali converted the spot kick in the third minute of stoppage time to make it 2-0.
The second half told a completely different story. Kalba started chipping away at the lead when French player Seko Baba found the far corner in the 55th minute. Then came the turning point - Lorenci received his second yellow card in the 63rd minute, leaving Khor Fakkan with just nine players.
Kalba wasted no time capitalizing on their numerical advantage. Iranian midfielder Shahriar leveled the score just one minute later in the 64th minute, finishing off a move created by Palestinian player Ahmed Abu Namous.
Abu Namous then became the hero, scoring a rocket shot from outside the box in the 86th minute to complete the comeback. Serbian striker Nemanja Jovic added the cherry on top with a fourth goal in the 88th minute.
The victory moves Kalba up to third place with 10 points, while Khor Fakkan remains stuck in 11th position with just 4 points. Despite being billed as the "East Coast Derby," large sections of Khor Fakkan's 6,550-capacity stadium sat empty during the match.
This result shows how quickly things can change in football when discipline breaks down. Khor Fakkan had the game under control but lost their composure at crucial moments, allowing an organized Kalba side to take full advantage of their extra players.
