Islamic Affairs Department Achieves 100% Digital Automation of its Services
The UAE's General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat has achieved full digital transformation, making all its automated services available online through its website and mobile app. This marks a significant jump from just 43% digital availability in 2024 to complete digitization.
Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, who heads the authority, said this digital shift aligns with the organization's commitment to smart transformation and modern digital systems. The move aims to serve the authority's mission with advanced and progressive approaches.
The change means people can now complete all their transactions with the authority digitally, making the process faster and more flexible. This includes services related to Islamic affairs, religious endowments, and zakat collection - all core functions that traditionally required in-person visits.
Al Darei explained that this development reflects the authority's focus on improving services and delivering them according to the highest standards. The goal is to meet future expectations while strengthening the organization's position as a leader in providing smart and innovative services.
The authority has also completed a restructuring of its services to better align with its foundational tasks and future responsibilities. This restructuring is part of a strategic plan to boost efficiency and improve service quality, which should enhance the authority's role and position both regionally and globally.
For the UAE government, this represents another step in the country's broader digital transformation agenda. The Emirates has been pushing various government entities to digitize their services as part of efforts to improve citizen experience and government efficiency. Religious and cultural institutions moving to full digital services shows how comprehensive this transformation has become across different sectors.
