Icy Temperatures Hit UAE, Plunging to Chilling 13.7°C
The UAE recorded its lowest temperature today at 13.7°C (56.6°F) on Jebel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah, marking another cold spell for the Emirates as winter weather settles across the region.
The National Center of Meteorology confirmed the temperature reading was taken at 4:00 AM local time on Friday morning. Jebel Jais, the UAE's highest peak at 1,934 meters above sea level, regularly sees the country's coolest temperatures during winter months.
Weather forecasters expect partly cloudy and occasionally dusty conditions across the Emirates today, with some cloud cover over the Al Dhafra region. Temperatures will drop slightly from recent days, while winds remain light to moderate with occasional gusts.
The temperature reading reflects the UAE's winter season, which typically brings cooler weather from December through February. Mountain areas like Jebel Jais often experience temperatures 10-15 degrees lower than coastal cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi during this period.
For residents and tourists, these cooler temperatures make outdoor activities more comfortable, particularly in the country's mountainous northern regions. The weather pattern aligns with seasonal expectations as the Arabian Peninsula experiences its mildest temperatures of the year.
