Heroic Act Saves Distressed Child from Sudden Breathing Difficulty and Fainting
Dubai's civic leadership honored a Pakistani resident who saved a young girl's life after she suffered sudden breathing difficulties and lost consciousness on a city street. The incident highlights Dubai's community spirit and the quick thinking that can make the difference between life and death.
Said Al Nazari, coordinator of Dubai's Steering Committee for Preserving the City's Civilized Appearance, met with Owais Bahram Munfarid to recognize his heroic actions. Al Nazari said Dubai's strength comes from its people supporting each other, turning humanitarian values into real action that reflects the city's social progress.
The 38-year-old Owais was sitting on a street in Dubai's Bani Yas area when a panicked mother ran toward him carrying her daughter, who had nearly stopped breathing. Without hesitation, he took the child and provided first aid that helped restore her consciousness and breathing within crucial seconds. The girl gradually recovered as fear turned to tears of relief.
Owais has worked in the UAE for 15 years and regularly visits his home country to see his wife, who works as a nurse, and their two children aged 10 and 6. He said he acted purely on human instinct.
"I love the UAE, and Dubai is my second home because it's a country of justice and goodness," he said. "What I did was simple human behavior that reflects the noble humanitarian values of Dubai's society."
Bystanders at the scene praised his quick and effective response to the emergency. The incident demonstrates the kind of community solidarity that Dubai's authorities actively measure and promote.
The Steering Committee tracks public behavior through an index that measures how well society follows civic values, respects laws, and maintains public order. It also monitors negative behaviors that might harm the city's image, working to address them and ensure Dubai remains a global model for social excellence and mutual respect.
This committee extends Dubai's long commitment to development and reflects Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of establishing a modern civilization that ranks among the world's finest. The recognition of everyday heroes like Owais shows how the city values the human connections that make urban life work.
