Fujaira University Unveils Plans for Medical College and Teaching Hospital
University of Fujairah signed four major partnership agreements at GITEX Global 2025, with the standout deal being a collaboration with the University of Utah Health to establish a medical school and teaching hospital in the UAE. The agreements signal the university's push to expand its academic offerings and embrace digital transformation in higher education.
The university participated in the tech exhibition through the Fujairah government platform, where it showcased cutting-edge educational technologies alongside announcing its new partnerships. Beyond the medical school agreement, the university signed deals with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the Fujairah Geographic Information Systems Center, and Fujairah Digital Government.
The nursing college drew significant attention at the event with interactive demonstrations using virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies. Visitors could experience advanced healthcare training applications firsthand, generating strong engagement from attendees interested in how these technologies are reshaping medical education.
Dr. Sulaiman Al Jasim, the university's president, emphasized GITEX's role as a strategic platform for connecting students and researchers with industry leaders and global technology experts. The exhibition provided an opportunity for the university to strengthen its position as a leading knowledge center supporting digital transformation in higher education.
The partnerships come as UAE universities increasingly seek international collaborations to enhance their academic programs and research capabilities. The medical school partnership with Utah Health represents a significant step in expanding healthcare education options in the northern emirates, potentially addressing the growing demand for medical professionals in the region.
For the broader UAE education sector, these agreements reflect the country's continued investment in building world-class academic institutions that can compete globally while serving local needs. The focus on digital technologies and healthcare aligns with national priorities around innovation and human capital development.
