Fajairah Crown Prince Outlines Vision for Developing People and Driving Comprehensive Growth with Sheikh Mohammed's Attendance
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, outlined his emirate's comprehensive approach to human development during the UAE government's annual meetings in Abu Dhabi. Speaking before top UAE leadership including Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, he emphasized that investing in people forms the foundation of all government policies and development projects.
Education and Research Take Center Stage
Al Sharqi made clear that education isn't just a priority for Fujairah—it's the cornerstone of sustainable development. "Scientific research is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for investing in and sustaining our resources," he said.
The emirate has backed this vision with concrete action. They've established the Fujairah Research Center to support innovation in environmental protection, food security, and marine conservation. The "Emirati Researcher" initiative now funds cutting-edge scientific projects, while programs like mental math challenges and technology clubs engage young minds.
But Fujairah isn't stopping at local talent. Their scholarship program sends students to South Korea, and they've launched language learning initiatives that prepare citizens for a global economy.
Sports as a Way of Life
Al Sharqi described sports in Fujairah as more than recreation—it's a lifestyle that builds physically and mentally strong citizens. The emirate has become a regional sports destination, particularly excelling in martial arts, water sports, and mind sports.
This focus on physical and mental wellness connects directly to productivity. Healthy individuals, Al Sharqi noted, achieve more for themselves and their country. Fujairah's advanced infrastructure now allows it to host major international sporting events.
Government Excellence Through People
The crown prince stressed that better government services mean better quality of life and higher productivity. Fujairah has institutionalized this through the Fujairah Government Excellence Program and the Distinguished Government Performance Award.
They've also created the Mohammed bin Hamad Leadership Program to develop future government leaders. Strategic partnerships between government and private sector organizations further strengthen this approach.
Tourism That Preserves Identity
Fujairah's tourism strategy goes beyond attracting visitors—it aims to share Emirati culture and values. Al Sharqi explained that tourism should be about "transferring your values, identity, and culture to others through human experience."
The emirate is developing adventure tourism through projects like the Fujairah Adventure Center, while cultural initiatives like the Fujairah Children's Book Fair promote reading and knowledge among young people.
Cultural projects serve a deeper purpose in Al Sharqi's vision. "Culture preserves human value and essence in times of transformation," he said, adding that maintaining Arab identity and Islamic values remains a shared responsibility.
Youth as the Strongest Investment
Al Sharqi called young people "our strongest bet and most important investment." Fujairah has created intellectual platforms and competitive programs, including the Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi Council, to engage youth in meaningful dialogue and development.
The approach recognizes that successful governments must adapt their policies to meet citizens' needs throughout different life stages. More importantly, involving individuals in the development process becomes essential for empowering them and enhancing their role in building the future.
Al Sharqi concluded that building human capacity is a national responsibility shared by everyone, starting with the individual. Governments succeed when they serve people's interests and the nation's needs, while establishing generations based on values of belonging, patriotism, and responsibility creates true guardians of national identity against modern challenges.
