Emirati Team Secures Thrilling Victory over 'Majd' in Amateur League
The UAE's First Division football league delivered an action-packed second round yesterday, with six teams securing crucial victories that boosted their early season prospects. Only one match ended in a draw, setting up an exciting start to the campaign.
The biggest comeback of the day belonged to Emirates Club, who stunned their visitors Majd FC with a dramatic 3-2 victory. Things looked bleak for the home side after falling behind 2-0 in the first half. Majd took control through Abdulrahman Bani Zameh's 20th-minute opener and Abdullah Al Hammadi's strike just before halftime.
But the second half belonged entirely to Brazilian striker Fabio Teixeira. He single-handedly turned the match around with a perfect hat-trick, scoring in the 46th, 85th, and 90th+3 minutes. The victory puts Emirates on six points from two games, while Majd remains pointless.
Dibba Al Hisn continued their strong start with a commanding 4-0 win over Al Jazeera Al Hamra. Algerian midfielder Akasha Hamzaoui grabbed a first-half brace in the 15th and 35th minutes, before Brazilian duo Joao Vitor and Lucas Rocha added goals just before and after halftime. The convincing win takes Dibba Al Hisn to six points, leaving their opponents still searching for their first point.
Al Hamriya kept their perfect record intact with a 2-0 victory over Masfout. Ismail Al Hammadi opened the scoring just before halftime, and Brazilian Regis Tosatti sealed the win in the 64th minute. Al Hamriya now sits on six points, while Masfout drops to three points after their opening day success.
Gulf United finally got off the mark with their first win of the season, beating Al Dhaid 2-0. The breakthrough came in the 66th minute through Abdullah Haboush, before Canadian striker Emmanuel Motale wrapped up the points with four minutes remaining. The victory gives Gulf United their first three points, while Al Dhaid remains winless.
Al Arabi maintained their perfect start with an entertaining 3-1 victory over Al Ittifaq. English forward Benik Afobe was the star performer with goals in the 15th and 38th minutes, while Moroccan Ahmed Jouar added a third in the 22nd minute. Bosnian striker Eldin Turkis pulled one back for Al Ittifaq just before halftime, but it wasn't enough to prevent another defeat.
United FC joined the six-point club with a narrow 1-0 win over City FC. Ivorian midfielder Ibrahima Outara scored the only goal of the game just after halftime, condemning City to a second straight defeat.
The round concluded with the most balanced contest of the weekend. Hatta and Al Fujairah played out an entertaining 2-2 draw that showcased the competitive nature of this season's league. Hatta twice took the lead through Rashid Mubarak's first-half strike and Brazilian Samuel Gonzales' 58th-minute goal. But Al Fujairah showed real character to fight back on both occasions, with Ervin Taha equalizing before halftime and Senegalese forward Mohamed Diop dramatically leveling the score in the second minute of stoppage time.
The draw leaves Hatta with four points from their opening two games, while Al Fujairah earned their first point of the campaign. With several teams already establishing early momentum and others still searching for consistency, the First Division is shaping up to be highly competitive this season.
