Emirati Royals Attend Lavish Mass Wedding Celebration of Hawashem Tribe
Two senior UAE royals attended a mass wedding ceremony organized by the Hawashem tribe in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the continued connection between the ruling family and local communities. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, were present at the celebration held at the Hawashem Council.
The ceremony featured traditional and folk performances that showcased Emirati cultural heritage. These displays created an atmosphere of joy while celebrating national identity and local customs.
Both royals extended their congratulations to the newlyweds and their families, wishing them happy and prosperous married lives. The presence of high-ranking officials at such community events reflects the UAE leadership's approach to maintaining close ties with tribal groups and local populations.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Director of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, also attended the event. Several other sheikhs, senior officials, families of the couples, and invited guests were present at the ceremony.
Mass weddings have become increasingly common across the Gulf region as a way to reduce wedding costs for families while strengthening community bonds. These events often receive support from government entities and prominent families, making marriage more accessible to young couples who might otherwise struggle with the financial burden of individual ceremonies.
The Hawashem tribe's decision to organize this collective celebration demonstrates how traditional social structures continue to play an important role in modern UAE society, even as the country rapidly modernizes and diversifies its economy.
