Emirati Martyrs: Embodying Unwavering Sacrifice and Selfless Service
UAE Deputy President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan honored the nation's fallen soldiers on Martyrs' Day, calling them eternal symbols of sacrifice who wrote a bright chapter in the country's history. Speaking on November 30th, he emphasized that protecting the homeland requires loyal individuals willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Sheikh Mansour, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Court Chairman, delivered his remarks during the annual commemoration that takes place every November 30th. The day remembers UAE soldiers who died defending their country's interests both at home and abroad.
"On this day, we stand in reverence and pride as we remember our noble martyrs who wrote the highest meanings of loyalty through their sacrifices," Sheikh Mansour said. "They embodied the greatest forms of courage and belonging, offering their pure souls in defense of the homeland and its dignity."
The UAE established Martyrs' Day in 2015 to honor military personnel killed in various operations, including the Saudi-led coalition's intervention in Yemen that began the same year. The date marks the death of the first Emirati soldier in Afghanistan in 2001.
Sheikh Mansour described the fallen soldiers as having created "an eternal model of true sacrifice" and stressed that homeland protection remains a great responsibility that only the most faithful can shoulder. He said these individuals made their lives a shield for the nation.
The deputy president told current and future generations that the martyrs represent symbols of pride and honor. Their legacy, he said, will continue inspiring the country to move forward with stronger determination and unwavering will.
"The memory of our martyrs will remain alive in every Emirati's conscience," Sheikh Mansour added. "It's a firm covenant renewed in hearts that the homeland, for which its sons gave their lives, will remain a precious trust we protect with determination, loyalty, and sincerity."
He concluded by praying for the martyrs' souls and asking for continued security and stability for the UAE, hoping the nation's flag will remain high through the loyalty and sincere efforts of its people in serving their country and leadership.
