Dubai Schools Urge Parents to Download 'My Bus' and 'DTC School Bus' Apps for Seamless School Transportation
Dubai schools are asking parents to download specific bus tracking apps that let them monitor their children's journey to and from school in real time. The move is part of a broader push to improve student safety during transport across the UAE.
Parents need to download different apps depending on their location. For Dubai's Hatta area and the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, plus Masfout in Ajman, they should get the "Hafilati" app from Emirates Transport. For Dubai and Ajman, parents need the "DTC School Bus" app from Dubai Taxi.
The apps send live updates about bus locations and notify parents about any changes to their child's journey. Parents can track the exact route and get alerts on their phones throughout the trip.
This follows growing concerns about student transport safety across the Gulf region. Several incidents in recent years have pushed authorities to adopt better monitoring systems for school buses. The UAE has been particularly focused on using technology to prevent children being left behind on buses or getting lost during transport.
The tracking systems also help schools and transport companies manage their fleets more efficiently. They can spot delays, reroute buses when needed, and respond faster to any problems on the road.
For parents having trouble with the apps, Emirates Transport offers support at 8006006, while Dubai Taxi can be reached at 80088088. The ministry has made these apps mandatory rather than optional, showing how seriously authorities are taking student transport safety.
The rollout covers most of the UAE's major population centers. It's part of the country's wider smart city initiatives that use digital tools to improve public services and safety.
