Dubai Leader Establishes 'Dar Al Maktoum' Board, Enhancing Cultural Preservation
Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued a new decree forming the board of directors for the Al Maktoum House Foundation, bringing together key cultural and administrative leaders under one umbrella. The move signals Dubai's commitment to preserving its heritage while strengthening institutional governance across cultural sectors.
The decree, numbered 44 for 2025, establishes a nine-member board led by the head of Sheikh Mohammed's Executive Office. The board includes top officials from Dubai Municipality, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Media Council, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation.
Two additional members will be chosen based on their expertise in the foundation's work areas. This structure brings together Dubai's main cultural and administrative bodies under unified leadership.
The Al Maktoum House Foundation focuses on preserving the ruling family's historical legacy and promoting Emirati cultural heritage. By consolidating leadership across multiple government entities, the new board structure should streamline decision-making and coordinate cultural initiatives more effectively.
For Dubai's cultural sector, this represents a more integrated approach to heritage preservation and cultural development. The foundation plays a key role in documenting historical materials and supporting research into the emirate's past.
The decree takes effect immediately and will be published in the official gazette, making it legally binding across all relevant government departments.
