Dubai Crown Prince Attends Graduation of Leadership and Design Program's Second Cohort
Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum witnessed the graduation of 38 participants from the second round of the "Leadership and Design Program" organized by the Dubai Future Foundation. The 14-week intensive program aims to build national talent in design thinking and creative innovation, positioning Dubai as a global hub for future-focused leadership development.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that Dubai believes in its youth's ability to shape the future of key sectors through innovative, non-traditional thinking. "Preparing national talent will remain one of our most important strategic priorities for designing the future of vital sectors that matter to society and the economy," he said. "We want Dubai to be the most innovative and creative in the world across all fields."
The program represents Dubai's broader strategy to become a leader in future economy sectors. The UAE has been investing heavily in human capital development as part of its Vision 2071, which aims to make the country the world's best by its centennial. This focus on design thinking aligns with global trends where governments are adopting user-centered approaches to public service delivery.
Design thinking has become crucial for organizations looking to stay competitive in rapidly changing markets. The methodology, which focuses on understanding user needs and creating human-centered solutions, has been adopted by major corporations and governments worldwide. For Dubai, this represents a strategic move to build local expertise in innovation methodologies that can drive economic diversification.
The 38 graduates came from both government and private sectors across the UAE. They participated in interactive workshops, field trips domestically and internationally, and theoretical and practical lectures on design thinking concepts and leadership development. The program exposed them to unique experiences based on creativity and systematic thinking aimed at creating positive change in people's lives.
Participants worked with experts and specialists in leadership and design thinking to create future scenarios for various sectors. The program included multiple training phases focused on understanding societal challenges, designing prototypes, and testing innovative solutions. Final projects covered diverse areas including government services, quality of life, empowering people with disabilities, environment, and education.
The graduation ceremony was attended by key UAE officials including Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Vice Chairman of Dubai Future Foundation, and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications.
This initiative comes as the UAE continues to invest in building a knowledge-based economy. The focus on design thinking skills reflects the country's recognition that future economic success will depend on the ability to innovate and create human-centered solutions. For businesses and government entities in the region, having leaders trained in these methodologies could provide competitive advantages in developing products and services that better meet user needs.
The program's emphasis on turning challenges into growth opportunities and leading transformation through unconventional methods signals Dubai's commitment to building adaptive leadership capabilities. As global markets become increasingly complex and user expectations rise, such skills become essential for organizational success and economic development.
