Crown Prince Zyad Visits China Import Expo, Highlights UAE's Global Trade Presence
Sheikh Dhiab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan toured multiple pavilions at the China International Import Expo 2025 in Shanghai, where the UAE serves as guest of honor. His visit highlights the growing economic partnership between the UAE and China, focusing on clean energy, innovation, and sustainable trade opportunities.
The Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Martyrs' Families began his tour at the UAE pavilion. There, he reviewed key national initiatives showcasing the country's vision across innovation, clean energy, advanced technology, and sustainable trade sectors.
Sheikh Dhiab then visited China's national pavilion and several other exhibits, including Ethiopia's display, DP World, Chinese shipping giant COSCO, the UAE's agriculture and food pavilion, and ADNOC's booth. During these visits, he spoke with representatives about cooperation opportunities and ways to strengthen economic and investment partnerships.
The UAE's guest of honor status at this year's expo reflects the deep strategic relationship between the two countries. Sheikh Dhiab emphasized that the UAE leadership remains committed to expanding cooperation across economic, investment, and technology sectors to support sustainable development and shared prosperity.
For investors and businesses, this partnership carries significant weight. China remains the UAE's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $79 billion in 2023. The expo provides a platform for both governments and private companies to explore new ventures, particularly in sectors where both countries are investing heavily.
The timing is notable as both nations push forward with their respective economic diversification plans. The UAE continues its shift away from oil dependency through initiatives like the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, while China focuses on high-quality development and technological advancement.
Sheikh Dhiab noted that the expo serves as an important global platform for dialogue and partnerships between countries, companies, and both government and private institutions. He described it as an opportunity to showcase exceptional national and private sector experiences in innovation, sustainable trade, and clean energy.
