Crown Prince Khalid Meets Oracle Co-CEO, Discussing Potential Tech Collaboration
Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Oracle's Co-CEO Mike Sicilia to discuss digital transformation partnerships. The meeting focused on cloud computing and AI investments as part of Abu Dhabi's push to build an innovation-based economy through private sector collaboration.
The discussion centered on how Oracle's technology could support Abu Dhabi's digital transformation across key sectors. Both sides explored opportunities in cloud computing and artificial intelligence - two areas where Abu Dhabi has been making significant investments as part of its economic diversification strategy.
Abu Dhabi has been actively courting major tech companies as it works to reduce its dependence on oil revenues. The emirate launched its digital transformation strategy several years ago, aiming to make government services more efficient and attract tech companies to set up regional operations.
For Oracle, this represents another opportunity to expand in the Middle East market. The company has been building its presence in the region, competing with other major cloud providers like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure for government and enterprise contracts.
The meeting included Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Government Enablement Department, and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Director of the Crown Prince's Office.
This partnership discussion comes as Gulf states increasingly focus on becoming regional tech hubs. The UAE has positioned itself as a gateway for international companies looking to serve Middle Eastern markets, offering favorable business conditions and modern infrastructure.
The collaboration could help Abu Dhabi accelerate digitization across sectors like healthcare, education, and government services. Oracle's database and cloud technologies are already used by many government agencies worldwide for managing large-scale digital operations.
