Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Saudi Al-Nassr's Historic Top Scorer
Cristiano Ronaldo just broke another record in Saudi Arabia's top football league. The Portuguese star, who's won the Ballon d'Or five times, overtook Moroccan striker Abdelrazzak Hamdallah as Al-Nassr's all-time leading scorer in the Saudi Pro League with his 78th goal for the club.
The milestone came during Al-Nassr's 2-0 win against Al-Ittihad, where Ronaldo scored in the 35th minute after Senegalese teammate Sadio Mané opened the scoring in the ninth minute. This latest goal brings Ronaldo's career total to 946 goals across all competitions.
Hamdallah, who previously played for Al-Nassr before moving to current club Al-Shabab, had held the record until now. The Moroccan forward was known for his prolific scoring during his time with the Riyadh-based club.
The victory was crucial for Al-Nassr's title hopes. They moved clear at the top of the league table with 12 points, breaking a tie with Al-Ittihad who now sit three points behind on nine points after four rounds of matches. Last season, Al-Nassr finished third in the league.
Ronaldo's record-breaking performance shows he's still finding his scoring touch in Saudi football. Since joining Al-Nassr in early 2023, the 39-year-old has become the face of the Saudi Pro League's push to attract global attention and top-tier talent.
