Cooler Temperatures Ahead: Meteorologists Forecast October Cold Snap
The UAE's National Center of Meteorology released its October weather report, warning residents to expect sharp and rapid weather changes throughout the month. Temperatures will drop noticeably compared to September, especially during the second half of October, as the country transitions from summer to winter.
The weather center explained that October marks the second transitional period between summer and winter seasons. During this time, the country experiences distinct wind patterns that shift throughout the day. Winds blow from the southeast during late night and morning hours, then change direction to northwest during afternoon and evening due to land and sea breeze cycles.
Humidity levels will be particularly high during early morning hours, then gradually decrease as the sun rises. After sunset, humidity climbs back up, averaging around 51% for the month. These conditions create perfect circumstances for fog formation during midnight and early morning hours.
**Seasonal weather systems are also changing.** The Indian monsoon low-pressure system will gradually retreat, especially toward the end of October. Meanwhile, the Siberian high-pressure system will occasionally start affecting the region.
The UAE will also feel the impact of surface low-pressure systems extending from the Red Sea and from the eastern regions. When these systems combine with upper-level atmospheric disturbances from either east or west, cloud cover increases significantly.
The eastern parts of the country are most likely to see cloud formation during these weather events. There's also a possibility of rainfall when these atmospheric conditions align properly.
For residents and businesses, this transitional period means preparing for more unpredictable daily weather patterns. The temperature drops will provide relief from summer heat, but the increased humidity and fog potential could affect morning commutes and outdoor activities.
