Bodybuilding World Championship: Emirati Expert Ensures Fair Player Weigh-Ins
The UAE's bodybuilding federation has earned significant international recognition after both the International and Saudi bodybuilding federations appointed Mohammed Shaheen Al Housani, a UAE federation board member, to oversee the weigh-in process at the World Championships. Saudi Arabia hosts the competition from October 27 through December 1.
Al Housani will also lead the UAE's national team delegation of 18 athletes competing at the world event. The squad recently added four new members: Hadif Al Suwaidi, Mohammed Al Barout, Abdullah Hassan, and Abdullah Al Marri.
This appointment reflects the growing influence of UAE bodybuilding on the global stage. The Emirates federation, led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, has built a strong reputation across continental and international competitions over recent years.
Al Housani said the appointment shows how far the UAE federation has come in developing the sport. "This recognition demonstrates the status our federation has achieved at both continental and global levels," he explained in press statements.
The UAE team enters the world championships with momentum from recent victories. They claimed first place at the West Asia Championship in Bahrain and won the Asia Championship that the UAE hosted in Ajman last summer.
Al Housani expressed confidence in his team's preparation. The athletes are entering the competition with high readiness levels, and he emphasized the team's ambition to continue achieving strong international results.
For the UAE, this represents more than just athletic achievement. The country has been building its sports infrastructure and international sporting presence as part of broader economic diversification efforts. Success in bodybuilding adds to the UAE's growing portfolio of international sporting recognition across multiple disciplines.
