Ajman Honors Martyrs by Naming Nearby Streets After Them, as per Hamid bin Rashid's Directives
Ajman's ruler has ordered 19 streets across the emirate to be named after fallen soldiers, with each street located near the families' homes. Sheikh Hamid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi wants to keep their memory alive in the community and give their families a source of pride they can see every day.
The decision reflects how the UAE honors its military personnel who died defending the country. Sheikh Hamid said these soldiers gave their lives protecting the nation and the union between emirates. Naming streets after them shows how much the UAE leadership and people value their sacrifice.
"Naming 19 streets after martyrs close to their families' neighborhoods recognizes what they gave us," Sheikh Hamid explained. "It keeps their legacy present in their loved ones' daily lives and confirms that the nation doesn't forget its sons who sacrificed for it."
The ruler emphasized that honoring fallen soldiers is a core principle in the UAE. The country puts its people and their sacrifices first, and recognizes those who gave their blood and lives for their homeland. This recognition will remain a cornerstone of Ajman's approach and help build loyalty among young people.
Crown Prince Sheikh Ammar bin Hamid Al Nuaimi said cementing the memory of national heroes on emirate streets shows leadership that doesn't forget its people. "These heroes are the heartbeat and soul of the union. They're the most beautiful chapter in our nation's glorious history," he said. "They carried our flag with steadiness and courage in fields of honor and duty, so our homeland stays strong, safe, and stable."
The Crown Prince added that his father's directive shows the deep appreciation leadership has for the martyrs and their sacrifices. It confirms an ingrained Emirati belief in staying loyal to those who gave their lives defending their land. Naming streets near their family homes carries a message of love and gratitude.
Sheikh Rashid bin Hamid Al Nuaimi, who heads Ajman's Municipality and Planning Department, said his department will carefully choose locations closest to the martyrs' family homes. This fits with ongoing efforts to strengthen national values and honor fallen soldiers through the department's projects and initiatives.
The move follows the UAE's broader approach to military commemoration. The country regularly honors its armed forces personnel and has established various programs supporting military families. Street naming represents one way local governments can make this recognition visible in daily community life.
