Abu Dhabi Launches Global 'Future of Health' Initiative Under Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed's Guidance
Abu Dhabi launched a new global health initiative that transforms its annual health week into a permanent worldwide platform for healthcare collaboration and innovation. The "Future of Health - A Global Initiative from Abu Dhabi" aims to bring together health leaders, policymakers, tech pioneers, and investors year-round to develop practical solutions for global health challenges.
The initiative comes under the direction of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council. It represents a major shift from hosting a single annual event to creating an interconnected global system that connects ideas, knowledge, investment, and collaborative action.
Abu Dhabi's move builds on its established position in healthcare innovation and artificial intelligence deployment. The emirate has already proven its capability in global health cooperation - over the past few years, it hosted events with more than 500 speakers from around 100 countries and welcomed over 25,000 participants including experts and innovators.
The initiative focuses on four main pillars that shape the future of global health: healthy longevity and precision medicine, resilient and sustainable healthcare systems, digital health and artificial intelligence, and life sciences investment.
Several major organizations joined as founding partners, including M42, Mubadala Bio, PureHealth, and the Healthy Life Institute in Abu Dhabi. Mediclinic comes in as a strategic partner, while Burjeel Holdings joins as a pivotal partner to support the platform and develop long-term programs.
The efforts will culminate in the Future of Health Summit in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for April 7-9, 2026, at ADNEC Abu Dhabi. This annual flagship event will gather leaders, decision-makers, and experts from around the world.
For investors and healthcare markets, this represents significant economic stakes. The initiative aims to produce measurable impact through developing innovative solutions for major health challenges, conducting forward-looking research to identify future priorities, and organizing regular global dialogues that strengthen cooperation between different sectors.
Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Health Department, described the initiative as "an open invitation for year-round global cooperation to build a sustainable healthy future." He emphasized that it serves as a platform bringing together creative minds and global partners to transform visions and commitments into real achievements.
Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of Abu Dhabi Health Department, highlighted Abu Dhabi's central role in driving global health progress. She pointed to the emirate's developments in genomics, artificial intelligence, life sciences, and precision medicine as foundations for a comprehensive, innovative, and sustainable health model.
The numbers show Abu Dhabi's serious commitment to global health leadership. Over the past two years, more than 50 agreements were signed to develop clinical research, vaccines, and enhance digital health innovation. The emirate also established one of four global centers for vaccine distribution and contributed to launching the Declaration of Longevity Health and Precision Personal Medicine.
This initiative positions Abu Dhabi to capture significant economic value in the growing global health technology market. By creating a permanent platform rather than just an annual event, the emirate places itself at the center of year-round healthcare innovation discussions and partnerships, potentially attracting more investment and research collaborations to the region.
